Israel Police said it is continuing its efforts against illegal weapons believed to be reaching criminals and organized crime groups. On Tuesday evening, during an operation in Jaffa, Tel Aviv Special Patrol Unit officers arrested three suspects and searched an apartment on Kedem Street under a court order.
During the search, officers seized a Beretta handgun with a loaded magazine, pepper spray, a hat marked “Security,” a machete, a knife and mobile phones concealed in a storage loft.
When officers arrived, they met the apartment owner, a man in his 30s, and presented the court order. Police said he refused to open the door and allow them to enter for the search. Officers then forced their way into the apartment and found two additional suspects inside. The suspects – residents of Jaffa, Rishon LeZion and Sderot – were arrested and taken for questioning at Jaffa Police Station.
The three suspects are expected to appear at Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a hearing on extending their detention.
