Tel Aviv Cinematheque’s 2026/27 season of courses and enrichment series will open after the holiday period. The program connects cinema with subjects including love, music, philosophy, literature, art, history and current affairs.
New series include “Love from the Movies” with Dr. Yael Doron; a program by Itai Anghel connecting his experiences in conflict zones around the world with films addressing those places; “Behind and in Front of the Screen 2” with Lena Rusovsky; and “A Cinematic and Psychological Journey of Initiation Through Six Films About Love, Desire and Intimacy,” led by Dr. Masha Halevi and Rachel Esterkin. Other series will address cultural heroes, freedom, identity and civilizations, alongside introductory and advanced artificial intelligence courses with Nadav Rajuan.
The program also includes maestro Gil Shohat in a series of lecture-concerts about the connection between musical works and cinema, Prof. Uzi Rabi with “Middle Eastern Cinema,” Iri Rikin with a philosophy series and the study day “The Magical Cinematic Journey.”
Additional programs include a survey of popular comedies with Maayan Shavit; “Outside the Frame: Art Through the Lens of Cinema” with Dr. Doron Luria, Dr. Smadar Sheffi and Ruti Direktor; lectures on cinema and chansons with Dr. Aviv Amit; and encounters between literature and cinema with Shimon Adaf, Assaf Gavron, Oded Menda-Levy and Adiva Geffen.
The program also features “How Cinema Shapes Experience” with director Anat Eisenberg, and creative workshops for adults led by Shnir Peleg, Gal Peleg Abelson, Tremolo Ensemble and additional artists.
Dina Peled, CEO of Tel Aviv Cinematheque, said the season is intended to connect the big screen with cultural and current-affairs subjects and preserve the cinematheque as a space for learning and shared viewing.
