Fans of the hit series “Shakshuka” can get ready: on Tuesday, March 31, the day before the Passover Seder, Kan Educational will air a special celebratory episode. The episode not only marks the arrival of spring, but also a major milestone for the series: five years since its premiere, during which it has become one of Israel’s most popular and successful children’s and youth programs.
Magic in the bakery: Suchard comes to make order – or chaos
The main attraction in the festive episode is a special guest appearance by international mentalist Lior Suchard. Suchard arrives at the bakery familiar from the series and disrupts events just before the holiday.
During the episode, Esti and her friends try to use Suchard’s extraordinary skills to influence Ilana and discover, or decide, where the afikoman will be hidden during the class Seder. The adults also find a use for his abilities: Efi’s fathers ask him to help persuade Efi to give up the idea of getting a tattoo.
Suchard’s appearance in “Shakshuka” marks the beginning of his work with Kan Educational, where a new series starring him, “Young Suchard,” is scheduled to premiere in April.
A major success by the numbers
Since its launch, “Shakshuka” has become a genuine cultural phenomenon among young audiences. Created by Avner Bernheimer and Asya Levtov and directed by Aviad Keidar, the series is based on Galia Oz’s popular books.
Across seven seasons and 132 episodes, the series has accumulated more than 300 million views across Kan Educational’s digital platforms: Kan BOX, the app, the website and YouTube. It follows a group of students at the Sadot school and addresses complex social and family issues alongside humorous and emotional moments.
