“Mishtaptzot”: The New Documentary Entering the World of the “Mommy Makeover”

People speak constantly about body positivity and self-love, while plastic surgery clinics are busier than ever. “Mishtaptzot,” Orit Navon’s new web series for Kan Digital, offers an exposed and shame-free look behind the scenes of the industry while dismantling several familiar stereotypes.

The combined plastic-surgery procedure popularly known as a “mommy makeover” has long become a widespread phenomenon. Women and doctors alike describe it as life-changing, yet it continues to be surrounded by secrecy, judgment and shame. In Kan Digital’s new four-part documentary mini-series, “Mishtaptzot,” journalist Orit Navon takes an intimate journey into the process in the most literal sense.

Navon does not approach the subject as an outside observer. She underwent the procedure herself and chooses to document it from within with unusual honesty. The series combines Navon’s personal conversations with her psychologist and close documentation of Rotem, a woman undergoing the complex surgery on camera. Together, they peel back the reality behind the before-and-after images commonly seen on Instagram.

What to expect:

  • The full journey: Intimate encounters reveal the entire process, from painful uncertainty and the decision itself to the operating room, the difficult recovery period and life afterward.
  • The inner journey: The series opens a deeper discussion about body image and self-confidence, the power dynamics between patients and doctors, and the heavy financial and emotional cost of such a change.
  • Responses from others: An unfiltered look at reactions ranging from warm support to cold judgment.

“Mishtaptzot” seeks to break down the shame surrounding cosmetic surgery and turn a silenced subject into a legitimate conversation. It looks beneath the surface of a world often dismissed as shallow and commercial and asks the question relevant to anyone considering such a change: what are people actually seeking when they want to change their bodies, and what constitutes real change?

The first episode is available on Kan Digital’s YouTube channel.

The remaining three episodes will be released on Kan’s platforms each Wednesday.
