Israel’s first employment conference dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the LGBTQ Center in Meir Park. According to the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, around 350 people attended, including jobseekers, employees, managers, human resources professionals, representatives of public and private organizations, labor committees and entrepreneurs.
The event was initiated by LGBTWORK in cooperation with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and the Histadrut. It was designed to connect the LGBTQ+ community with employers and professional resources that can support entry into and advancement within the workforce.
The center of the conference featured a job fair with participating companies and organizations, alongside mentoring stations, personal career consultations, a LinkedIn workshop on building a professional presence and professional headshots. The aim was not only to discuss diversity and inclusion in principle, but also to provide participants with practical tools.
The conference also presented figures showing continuing gaps in the labor market. According to LGBTWORK, one in seven LGBTQ+ employees remains closeted at work out of concern that coming out could harm their career. Central Bureau of Statistics figures cited at the event also showed that around 16% of heterosexual employees report feeling uncomfortable working with LGBTQ+ people.
The program included panels on organized labor, employment in the AI era and municipal policy, as well as a conversation with journalist Matan Hodorov. Panel participants included representatives from the Histadrut, Meta, Humane AI, the LGBTQ Center and the municipal authority for resilience and social equality.
