The first stage of construction on the Levi Eshkol Bridge over Rokach Boulevard is underway. Work began in June 2026, and the bridge is intended for pedestrians and cyclists as a continuation of Levi Eshkol Street.
The bridge is planned to connect the city’s northwestern neighborhoods, including Kochav HaTzafon, Nofei Yam, the Lamed Plan area and Sde Dov, to a future north-south urban route. The route is also expected to include a bridge over the Yarkon River, creating continuity toward Weizmann Street, Kikar HaMedina and farther south to Shaul HaMelech Street.
The bridge will be around 170 meters long and 6 meters wide overall. It will include a 3-meter-wide bicycle path alongside a pedestrian walkway, with a separation strip between them. The structure will be built from steel with a bamboo deck surface, and bicycle parking will be provided beneath it on both sides of Rokach.
The bridge will be accessible without an elevator and will include lighting integrated into the railing handrail for nighttime use. Trees are also planned for planting north and south of the bridge.
