Officers from Tel Aviv South police station and Border Police officers from the Ayalon unit raided an apartment on Tidhar Street in Tel Aviv where prohibited games and illegal gambling were allegedly taking place. The apartment owner was arrested and five additional suspects were detained for questioning.
The raid was carried out under a court order. Four people were found around a mahjong table, along with one additional person. Everyone present at the scene was a Chinese national.
During the search, police seized a gaming table, packs of cards, game tiles and additional equipment suspected of being used for gambling. NIS 75,000 in cash was also seized from the apartment.
The apartment owner, a Chinese national, was arrested and taken for questioning at the police station. The five additional suspects were detained for questioning. The money and equipment seized were transferred for further examination as part of the investigation.
