Jaffa police arrested a 32-year-old Palestinian resident who was allegedly staying in Israel without a permit, on suspicion of committing an indecent act against a 26-year-old woman in her Jaffa apartment.
According to police, a report was received in the afternoon from a woman who said she had woken in alarm that morning and saw a man whom she alleged was committing indecent acts against her.
The woman told police that the suspect was a construction worker employed in the building where she lives, on Kurt Tucholsky Street in Jaffa, and that he had previously entered her apartment to carry out electrical work.
She said that after she woke and shouted, the suspect fled the scene.
Jaffa police detectives arrived, obtained a description of the suspect from the complainant and began searching the area. According to police, investigative actions and technological means led officers to locate the suspect allegedly hiding at a construction site, where he was arrested.
The 32-year-old suspect was taken for questioning. Police said he was expected to be brought before Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a hearing on a request to extend his detention.
