Ahead of Israel’s 78th Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Israel Police completed preparations for event security and traffic arrangements in central Tel Aviv, Herzliya and Ramat Hasharon. Hundreds of police officers, Border Police personnel, volunteers and emergency response teams will be deployed to secure celebration areas. Significant traffic changes are expected in central Tel Aviv.
Independence Day celebrations at Habima Square – closures from 5:30 p.m.:
- Rothschild Boulevard / HaHashmonaim Street: Rothschild Boulevard will be closed in the direction of Habima Square.
- Rothschild Boulevard / Karmiya Street: Karmiya Street will be closed in the direction of Rothschild Boulevard.
- Tarsat Street / Ben Zion Boulevard: Habima Square Street and Tarsat Street will be closed northbound.
- King George Street / Ben Zion Boulevard: Ben Zion Boulevard will be closed in the direction of Habima Square.
- Ibn Gabirol Street / Marmorek Street: Marmorek Street will be closed in the direction of Habima Square.
Later closures from 10:00 p.m.:
- Rothschild Boulevard / Herzl Street: Rothschild Boulevard will be closed in the direction of Habima Square.
- Ahad Ha’am Street / Nahalat Binyamin Street: Nahalat Binyamin Street will be closed in the direction of Rothschild Boulevard.
- Rothschild Boulevard / Bezalel Yafe Street: Rothschild Boulevard will be closed in the direction of Herzl Street.
Traffic arrangements may change depending on congestion and police decisions at the scene. Police said there will be zero tolerance for violence, road bullying or public disorder. The public was asked to drive carefully, prepare in advance, check navigation apps for updates and avoid bringing private vehicles into closed areas.
