Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality will mark Shavuot with events, activities and community initiatives across the city. The program includes a large seaside picnic, pool events at municipal country clubs and nights of study and culture as part of Tikkun Leil Shavuot. The Na’im Busofash weekend transportation service will operate for residents.
For Shavuot 2026, Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality has published a citywide program with activities for different ages and communities. From family celebrations at major leisure destinations to the kibbutz tradition of presenting babies born during the past year, which has been adopted by communities across the city, Tel Aviv is preparing for a long weekend of culture and leisure.
Outdoor and seaside celebrations
The holiday events will begin with a Shavuot picnic at Charles Clore Park (7 Kaufmann Yehezkel Street) on Wednesday, 20.5.26, from 17:00 to 21:00. The event will include the Magical Band performing Beatles songs, chillout music, food trucks, nonalcoholic drink stands and holiday picnic baskets. Admission is free.
On Saturday, 23.5, a Shavuot event will also take place at HaTachana Park from 11:00. Activities will include the play ‘King of Nature’ by the Mediatheque Theater, craft workshops such as making flower crowns and wooden boats, a special story hour, water activity areas and family photography. Admission is free, although some activities require payment.
Community, water and the first-fruits tradition
Community ceremonies celebrating babies born during the past year will take place across the city. The custom comes from the kibbutz tradition of first fruits, with babies taking the stage with their parents and receiving a certificate signed by the mayor. Workshops, performances and water games for children will be held alongside the ceremonies.
On Thursday, 21.5, from 10:00 to 14:00, the municipality will hold the fourth annual ‘Hagmayim’ event, a swimming event at all municipal pools and country clubs marking the opening of the swimming season. The program will include lighthearted family relay races and out-of-water activities adapted to the character of each neighborhood. (Admission: NIS 25, or NIS 20 for DigiTel cardholders).
A kibbutz atmosphere at major leisure destinations
Ahead of the holiday, two of the city’s best-known leisure destinations will take on a festive kibbutz atmosphere:
- Tel Aviv Port: The children’s avenue will be designed in the style of an Israeli kibbutz, with a tractor and hay display, photo stations, workshops for making Shavuot baskets and soap bubbles. Activities will take place on Monday (18.5) from 16:30 and on Saturday (23.5) from 11:00 to 14:00. Open folk-dancing sessions will also be held by the sea on Saturday. (Admission is free).
- Jaffa Flea Market (Amiad Center): On Wednesday (20.5), from 16:30 to 19:30, the venue will become a farm-themed area for families and children. The event will include farm characters and craft workshops inspired by the harvest and the land, alongside the regular farmers’ market. A special time slot for families with special needs will begin at 15:30. (Admission is free).
Tradition and spirituality: Tikkun Leil Shavuot events
The municipality will hold several Tikkun Leil Shavuot events on the holiday night (Thursday, 5 Sivan, 21.5.26), combining traditional study with contemporary cultural discussion:
- Brodt Municipal Cultural Center: ‘The General Tikkun’ will take place from 22:15 to 02:30. The evening will examine the question, ‘What can Judaism offer against the background of the war and the current situation?’ Participants will include public figures and thinkers such as Rabbi Shai Piron, Prof. Haviva Pedaya and Rabbi Yitzhak Bar-Zeev. - Ganei HaTeva (Botanical Garden): BINA and Ganei Yehoshua will hold the event ‘And It Shall Restore Your Soul.’ The evening will include a holiday welcome, study circles, wine, cheese and a live performance, beginning at 20:30. (Price: NIS 30, or NIS 20 for DigiTel cardholders).
- Tel Aviv Museum of Art and Alma: A traditional Tikkun will take place inside the museum from 21:30 to 03:30 and will focus on the theme ‘God.’ The event will include classes led by Alma teachers and museum curators, exhibition tours and a closing performance by Jimbo J. (Price: NIS 120, or NIS 85 for DigiTel cardholders).
Na’im Busofash weekend transportation service
Alongside the cultural events, Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality announced that the Na’im Busofash shuttle service will operate in full during the holiday. From Thursday through Saturday (21-23.5.26), the service will run across the city and participating municipalities, providing convenient access to entertainment areas.
