The Train Theater is once again taking its work beyond Jerusalem, opening 2026 with a month full of programming for children and families. January will feature puppet shows and guest productions on Saturdays, alongside intimate storytelling theater on Monday afternoons for toddlers and young children.
“Wise Men at Night – A Chelm Tale” will be performed at the Tel Aviv Museum. The production is a distinctive stage adaptation of Chelm stories from Jewish folklore, taking place entirely inside a large book that transforms into a theater stage. It combines pop-up techniques, puppets and shadow theater, creating an imaginative, humorous and poetic experience. The production was created and is performed by Galia Levy-Grad, with an original klezmer-inspired soundtrack by Eyal Talmudi, performed by members of Oy Division.
In Jerusalem, performances will take place at the theater’s home in the Davidson House, where audiences can expect a combination of storytelling, puppetry, drawing and live music. The theater’s new coffee cart, Ofra, will serve hot pizza, coffee, pastries and drinks for both parents and children.
The popular production “The Marzipan Fairy” will also be presented at the Arie Caspi Culture Hall in Mazkeret Batya. The show, first staged around three years ago and performed more than 1,000 times, returns in a new adaptation with a new pair of actresses.
The story follows Mik on a journey to the witch-fairy’s candy garden, together with Tino the dwarf and her father’s “magic word.” It is an imaginative story about facing fear and the power of friendship, combining songs, music and active participation by children. Since 2024, the roles have been performed by Katerina Tefilsky and Noa Abramovsky.
