Dan Subdistrict Police conducted a broad traffic enforcement operation over the weekend, with officers working in Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Bnei Brak and the Ono Valley communities. Police were deployed at key locations and focused on violations considered dangerous to road users.
Police issued 143 traffic tickets, including 46 for using a mobile phone while driving. Ten tickets were issued for driving through a red light, and six drivers were caught exceeding the speed limit. Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
A traffic examiner ordered eight vehicles off the road because of serious safety defects, while three additional vehicles were impounded and prohibited from being driven.
A large share of the tickets involved riders: 29 tickets were issued to micromobility riders for offenses including riding without a helmet, riding on sidewalks or riding without the legally required training. Another 15 tickets were issued to motorcycle and scooter riders for offenses including crossing a traffic island, riding on sidewalks and failing to yield.
Police also said a focused operation by the Ramat Gan municipal policing unit on Thursday resulted in 40 additional traffic tickets.
Police said enforcement will continue as part of efforts to reduce dangerous driving, prevent traffic crashes and protect all road users.
