Jaffa SYNC returns to HaPisga Park in Old Jaffa for three evenings of silent cinema with original scores performed live. Screenings take place on Wednesdays, October 14, 21 and 28, 2026, at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
The festival’s second edition travels through New York, Berlin and Tokyo via films made almost a century ago. Local musicians will perform new scores that bring hip-hop, electronic music and jazz to the outdoor screen.
October 14: New York, Lonesome and DJ Mesh
Paul Fejos’s Lonesome (1928) follows two young people who meet by chance in New York. Their love story unfolds amid the crowds, trains and lights of a city where being surrounded by people does not necessarily mean feeling less alone.
DJ Mesh, a hip-hop producer who has worked with Eden Derso, Cohen@Mushon and Ravid Plotnik, will combine samples, scratching and live keyboards and guitar.

October 21: Berlin with Autarkic and Tzmit
Walter Ruttmann’s Berlin: Symphony of a Great City (1927) follows a day in the German capital. Rather than a conventional protagonist or plot, its streets, machines, traffic and crowds provide the structure and rhythm.
Autarkic and Tzmit, Nadav Spiegel and Eran Tzmit, will perform an electronic score built from synthesizers, samples and rhythms that respond to the film’s images of industrial Berlin.

October 28: Tokyo with the Sefi Zisling Quartet
Yasujirō Ozu’s early comedy I Flunked, But… (1930) follows students who fail their exams and must repeat a year at university, while their graduating friends discover that life after studying is no easier. Their friendships and ambitions offer a view of Tokyo in the 1930s.
Trumpeter, composer and producer Sefi Zisling and his jazz quartet will pair the film’s humor and comic timing with groove and improvisation.
