Sports courts in Tel Aviv-Yafo are set to receive canopies that generate electricity as well as provide shade. Apollo Power has received an order worth approximately NIS 3.8 million from Colmobil Energy to design, supply and install the systems, with phased completion planned during 2027.
Flexible Solar Sheets on Lightweight Structures
The canopies will use lightweight, flexible solar sheets developed by Apollo Power. The sheets can be mounted on lightweight structures and cable networks. The company says this reduces the need for substantial steel supports and lowers infrastructure costs.
The installations are intended to shade existing courts while generating electricity above land already in public use, without allocating an additional site. Work will proceed through design, supply and installation milestones.
The order follows the inauguration of a solar canopy at HaTzri School in Tel Aviv about two months earlier, in cooperation with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Economic Development Authority. Apollo places the order within the nationwide effort to add solar canopies to approximately 1,000 public sports courts.

Oded Rozenberg, CEO of Apollo Power:
“We are proud to work with Colmobil and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality on a product that combines shade for sports courts with green energy. Our lightweight, flexible panels make this possible while preserving the urban landscape and its appearance. The order comes just two months after we inaugurated Tel Aviv’s first solar shading installation together with the mayor, demonstrating the quality of the solution and its advantages.”

Aviv Pepper, CEO of Colmobil Energy:
“The collaboration with Apollo combines Israeli innovation with work on the ground and demonstrates how the renewable energy transition in Israel can be accelerated. Covering sports courts generates clean energy while improving residents’ experience of public space.”
Apollo Power develops, manufactures and sells solar products through its subsidiary SolarPaint.
